Tips from Campers
In June 2020, we stayed in our Motorhome at Mountain View RV Resort in Canon City, CO.Walk, bike or fish along the Riverwalk on the Arkansas R. in Canon City. Mountain View is on a beautiful hill overlooking the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the west.Royal Gorge is virtually on the other side of the hill, with lots of activities available (e.g., Arkansas River rafting, Dino XP, biking) nearby.Canon City is only 10 minutes away.
- In June 2020, we stayed in our Fifth Wheel at Lonestar RV Park in Shamrock, TX.
Restaurant next door has good food. Shamrock has several sites of interest.A Conoco Gas station from the 40's with towers, a Mobile gas station, Texas's tallest water tower, a house with all types of farm equipment in the yard, a small Museum AND a piece of the BLARNEY STONE [??]
- In June 2020, we stayed in our Motorhome at North Shore Campground in Chester, CA.
If coming from the north, it is worthwhile to drive through Mt Lassen National Park on 89. The scenery is breathtaking as the road climbs to 8000 ft elevation with some snow on the ground (we drove though on a day that was nearly 100 degrees and stopped to cool off in patches of snow The Alpine lakes at the summit are breathtaking and the geothermal sulfur m...
